Lynnfield Families,

As we move into November, our school calendars become particularly busy. Elementary and middle school conferences, high school performances and state tournament games, professional development days, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving break all bring changes to our regular schedules.

I would like to especially thank our families for their patience and flexibility with our professional development schedule tomorrow and Wednesday. Tomorrow will be a full professional development day, with no school for students, and Wednesday will be a half day of professional development, with an early release for students. I recognize that these schedule changes require families to adjust their routines, and I appreciate the flexibility this requires. At the same time, this dedicated time is important to our educators’ professional growth, collaboration, and continued improvement of the educational experience we provide for our students. With only one full districtwide professional development day during the school year, it is important that we make the most of this opportunity.

Over the course of these two days, our staff will engage in a range of learning opportunities, including strategies to strengthen student relationships, belonging, and behavior support; continued work with our new elementary Reveal Math curriculum; training on using AI to improve accessibility for all students; curriculum mapping and interdisciplinary course planning; emergency medication administration; Signs of Suicide training and various other professional growth opportunities. These sessions reflect our commitment to strengthening instruction, supporting student needs, and building consistency across our district.

Thank you again for your understanding and partnership. I appreciate your support in providing our educators with the time they need to learn, collaborate, and continue improving the experience we provide for every student.

Sincerely,
Tom Geary

Academic Achievement

Last week’s School Committee meeting featured some outstanding LHS student leaders who shared their experiences participating on the Math Team, Debate Team, Mock Trial Team, Women’s Forum, and National History Day. It was a great chance to hear directly from our impressive students about their interests, these extracurricular opportunities available to them beyond the classroom, and the skills they are developing through their involvement. We are proud of these students for their leadership, initiative, and willingness to represent their peers and their school. Congratulations to Rishabh Anand, Nathan Malenfant, Sophia Tramontozzi, Ritvik Mahajan, and Prabhsimar Pabla. I encourage you to click on the link below, watch the video and hear directly from them!

Spotlight On Success In Our Schools

Each month I will be highlighting some of the great, and often unrecognized positive work by our students and staff members occurring across the Lynnfield Public Schools. These are direct anecdotes that have been shared with me recently from fellow staff members and families. Kudos to the following staff members for embodying our district's core values through their actions.

"I want to offer some praise and insight to you about Mr. Forster. He's making a lasting impact on school culture at the high school through his leadership of the Social Studies department, Student Council, Habitat for Humanity, Pioneer Pride, and numerous other initiatives that promote student leadership, service, and community. His willingness to step up wherever needed, and build a positive school environment exemplifies his exceptional dedication."

"I'm reaching out to recognize Morgan Festa and all she brings to the school community. I have three children in LPS and she has always been responsive and helpful in coordinating schedules. She consistently goes above and beyond and I really appreciate all she does."

"I can't say enough about the efforts of Ms. Lopiccolo, Ms. Doyle, Ms. Corcoran, Ms. Wein, Ms. Imbrogna, Ms. McNaughton, Ms. Mandile, Ms. Brennet, Ms. Reardon, Ms. DePalma, Ms. Galligani, and Ms. King this year. Their tireless teamwork, responsiveness, and commitment to all students at Huckleberry this year during some challenging situations has amazed me."

"Just sharing that seventh grade English teachers, Krista Wright and Sara Dowsing have embedded the LMS core values into everything they do. They have students reflect on how they have shown kindness, effort, and citizenship in class. At the end of class on Fridays, students reflect on their week and set tangible goals for the week ahead. They have infused the core values into their classroom so that they are not just words that are said but things students think about and work to demonstrate daily."

"I cannot believe that Summer Street School second grade teacher Lisa Forrest is retiring in December. For decades, she has been the heart of SSS, dedicating herself not only to her students but to the entire school community. Even when she has had challenging classes, she creates a calm environment filled with love. Each child always comes out of her class with more skills than they had to start. Almost every day Lisa will be heard in the halls saying “this kid is the best” and she means it -- and she convinces them of it, too, even if they weren’t so sure of themselves. Her Friday dance parties have become a joyful tradition that brings smiles throughout the hallways, and her quick wit and sense of humor brighten the days of both students and colleagues. Her unwavering dedication and compassion have left a lasting impact on generations of students and staff. Lisa Forrest is the best!"
