Happy New Year 2017! While the holiday vacation is not quite the midpoint to the school year, it does provide a break before the close of term two (January 20) and the beginning of term three. Winter normally brings an educational time free from too many interruptions and distractions. Expectations for student work increases as all routines are well established and we enter into the core of the academic year.
The midpoint does bring some schedule shifts for students with respect to exploratory classes, though the Wellness course runs all year. As we wrap up the final three weeks of the first semester, students in grade 5 will complete their first exploratory course (Art or Music) before moving into their second course for the remainder of the year. Eighth graders will finish their second quarter exploratory course and then enter their third term course. Lastly, students in grades 6 and 7 are currently in the middle of their second of three trimester-based exploratory (Art, Media Center, STEM) classes and their next course shift comes in mid-March.
