We are now one full month into the 2019-20 school year and are building strong educational momentum. September is full of many adjustments and a few events that provide some brief interruptions to the traditional school day. Grade level meetings, school and bus evacuation practice, school pictures and Open House are behind us. Students have acclimated to their new schedules, lockers, getting to/from school, and lunchtime. Classroom routines have been established. Bulletin boards are filling up with student work and those compositions, lab reports, unit tests and varied projects are most evident. Teachers new to LMS are also adjusting as well to ultimately meet the educational and social needs of our students via curriculum/pedagogy and collaborative activities.
As we move into October, the MCAS scores from last spring have been released and soon will be mailed out to parents. From this data, it is our charge to advance overall and individual scores. I will be making a formal presentation to the School Committee on November 19th along with our directors (Kate Roberston, ELA, Humanities & Social Studies and Katie Ambroise, Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)).
Lastly, I would like to thank our LMS PTO again for their continued support. On September 26, all LMS students were able to attend the presentations by Amazing Hero Artist, Rob Surette. The school was abuzz with the energy from this artist and his message. This program was completely funded by our PTO… thank you!
