Second term presents the challenge of the increased rigor of academics as well as two vacations that divides the term into three parts (pre-Thanksgiving, post-Thanksgiving, and beginning of the New Year).
These breaks from school can provide a time for rejuvenation and reflection. Within the academic realm, these times are true checkpoints. Additionally, November has two early release days for parent conferences (Nov. 7 & 16) as well as no school for Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving break. Report cards for the first term will be issued on November 17th and our parent/teacher conference days are around the corner.
I encourage each of you to talk to your child(ren) about their progress this year. Ask him/her to cite areas that they excel and identify areas for improvement within each subject area. See if it matches what the teachers have identified and communicated via the conferences. I trust that a student who is aware of his/her areas of strength and need is well equipped to learn.
Thank you.
