As we bid farewell to February and enter March, this time of year feels different from most. We have had three snow/weather days so far, but none were in January or February. Our talented student singers recently performed in the LMS musical, which was moved from November. Also, we are in our final weeks of the second trimester which will close around March 13 (snow day dependent).
Some traditional March events, however, remain the same. Students in all grades will begin the scheduling process for next year’s classes. There will be no school for students on March 3rd and early release on March 4th for staff professional development. We will embrace Wellness Week March 9-13. Our fifth graders will attend the Boston Symphony Orchestra on March 13. In mathematics, our students will embrace Pi Day a day early since March 14th (3.14) falls on a Saturday. And… Spring officially arrives on March 19th.
A look ahead into April has us beginning our MCAS testing prior to April vacation. The state testing calendar does not provide enough time after vacation to complete the ELA MCAS after break as we have the last couple of years. Math and Science testing will begin in mid-May.
