Hold On…the calendar reads March! Named for the Roman god of war, the month of March is filled with exciting events. From the Ides of March to the vernal equinox, this month, while long, is never dull. Winds whip as winter unleashes her final fury. Baseball opens their season and college basketball crowns a champion. Alas, middle schools are not exempt from the stimulus of March Madness.
Academically, students are in the second half of the third term as instruction is perhaps at the strongest level of the year. Students will also begin the scheduling process for next year’s classes. We will embrace Wellness Week March 11-15. In mathematics, our students will embrace Pi Day on March 14th (3.14). Sadly, there is another school-related phenomenon subject to March…student misbehavior. I don’t know if it is due to being stuck inside for the long winter or not, but my experience has been that March is the most challenging month of the school year. Our teachers, support staff, and administration will be proactive in gauging student behavior so as to avoid any semblance of March Madness this year at LMS. Your cooperation and support at home are always appreciated.
