Principal's Message August/Sept 2019

Principal’s Message:

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We are very excited to welcome back our returning students and also extend a warm reception to our fifth graders and students new to Lynnfield.  We open our doors this year to an enrollment just around 700 students. Soon, their excitement and energy will be upon us.

Updates on LMS happenings continue to be posted on our webpage and Facebook as well as email blasts via AP Notify and Plus Portals.  Be sure to ‘like’ and follow our Facebook (www.facebook.com/lynnfieldms/)

This year, we will implement our new LMS Advisory program across all grade levels.  Each Thursday, we will begin the day with a 30-minute Advisory period then launch into our schedule (each class will still meet, but shortened by 5 minutes).  We will also transition to a trimester-based schedule for grade reporting and exploratory courses such as art, music, media, and STEM. Fifth graders will also have a new personalized learning course that we are rolling out this year.  All of these changes to LMS are geared to best serve and support each of our students.

Additionally, our middle school has a few changes in personnel since last year.  The following are new staff for our school:

Mrs. Sara Dowsing, Gr. 7 English

Ms. Marisa Botta, School Adjustment Counselor

Mr. Matthew Angelo, Health/Wellness

Ms. Jillian Rubin, Gr. 8 Social Studies

Please join me in welcoming our newest staff to LMS.

Lastly, I would like to remind everyone that LMS has adopted the following policy regarding food in the classroom: It is customary for the school to acknowledge students’ birthdays during morning announcements.  Parents/students are not permitted to send/bring in celebratory snacks for birthdays or other occasions. Only a personal snack for designated snack time is allowed. Parents may not arrange for flowers, balloons, or other items to be delivered to children at school.

I genuinely value the feedback of the community. Should you ever have any comments or questions, please contact me via phone (781) 334-5810 or email ralstons@lynnfield.k12.ma.us.

Thank you and welcome back!

Stephen R. Ralston, Principal
